KENYA OVERVIEW
A country in East Africa which has been described as 'the cradle of humanity' because some of the earliest evidence of human ancestors was found. It could be argued that "safari" was born in Kenya, with the primal drama of lion, leopard, wild dogs, hyena and cheetah hungrily following a sea of wildebeest so immense that at times it seems the whole earth itself is moving. Africa's single most famous safari draw, the Annual Great Migration occurs every July and October as animals travel between Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve. Each year, nearly 2 million animals move through Tanzania and Kenya driven by seasonal rain and drought in what is known as the Great Migration. One million wildebeest and 200,000 zebras make up the largest populations of the migrating herds, followed by gazelles. The timing of the annual migration varies from year to year and cannot be predicted with any certainty. The park takes its name from famous nomadic Maasai people, who wander as freely across the Kenya-Tanzania border as their cattle. There is more to Kenya than safari and wildebeest migration, though: from coral reefs and white sand beaches to tea plantations, Equatorial Tropical rain forest, cultural tours, sports tours, plus a tourism infrastructure that can get you to all of them so easily and so comfortably, Welcome to Magical Kenya!
